DEFRAG/SCAN DISK ERRORS

I can not defrag or scandisk my system in windows. I exit out of all the programs and then run defrag and i get error defrag009 and scan disk says not enough memory. It will scan disk in dos though but i still can not defrag it. the system says the cluster size (i have a 70gb hd)is to big so I tried to partition the HD with Partition Magic (error 3 came up) and that does not work. I was going to download the resource utilities from the website but i am not sure what to download. I did down load file dd1054.exe from the website i did try it i do not think it worked. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would like to know how to obtain a resource disk or what files i need to download off the site? I would appriciate a response thank you. Service Tag BNJ030B.

Hi,

The web site for Partition Magic is HERE.

From the information from the Microsoft article it would indicate that you would need to upgrade the software that was used to partition your HDD. You should make sure of what program that is installed or was used to do this.

Using Partition Magic (an excellent program) maximum partition size for a 4k cluster is 8205 MB. I'm using that size, and no defrag/scan disk problems. If you increase the partition size, cluster size automatically increases to 8k.

Hi,

For information about error code 3--out of memory go HERE. I beleive that you will need to find out what version that you have to update and probably will have to have at least version 5 before it will take care of your problem.
