Dim 8250 Memory Upgrade
I upgraded from a Dim 8100 733Mhz with 512Mb RDRAM(400Mhz) to a Dim 8250 3.06Ghz with 512Mb RDRAM(533Mhz).
Question: First off, is it even possible to use the 400Mhz RAM in the new 8250?
And if possible, will there be any noticable difference in performance?
Thank You!

You have the specifications messed up on your 8100....however, the only memory that is compatible with the 8250 is the pc800, and the pc1066 memory..... But i am guessing that you purchased the 8250 with pc1066, if so, stick with the pc1066....b/c ithe pc1066 will clock down to pc800 speeds, if you installed pc800.....
you cannot use pc600, or pc700 in the 8250...

Can I mix the two different RAMs together(PC800 + PC1066) in the Dimension 8250?
I have two banks of 256RDRAM PC800 and two banks of 256RDRAM PC1066.
Thank You!

Hi,
In that system, Yes.
But, most people would not want to do that. Adding PC800 in with PC1066 memory would slow the whole system down to PC800 speeds.
