No, it will not work.  You do not have a 16x PCI-Express slot.  You do have a 1X PCI-Express slot for a X1300 card.  Or one of the others will work.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim3100/en/sm/techov0.htm#wp1052309  Look at the motherboard on this link.  # 12 is the 1xpci-express slot.  The other slots are pci that you can use if you wish

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161017  X1300 1X PCI-Express card The best you can get, but also expensive and low end performance..Hypermemory on the this 1x pci-express version shares the system memory - if you only have 512 system the card will only give you 256 for the GPU. If you have 1 GB system it does show the full amount of 512 for the card - although it is still shared memory. Only the 128 onboard is dedicated to the GPU and it's only 64-bit hardware I/O

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I'm in canada and they don't sell the card you mentionned X1300 Radeon but there is the following :

PCI 256 Mo Radeon 9250 d'ATI

Will this fit?

It's just that I thought I had bought a better performance PC but I'm almost at the same point as with my old pc and on the message board there seems to be alot of threads pertaining to installing a video card and I just want to make sure before doing anything with my new PC.

Thanks again.

Gisèle

No.  You have a single X1 slot and regular PCI 2.3  3.3v slots.
A PCI 2.3  X1300 works from Visiontek.

Manufacturer Part# : VTK X1300256PCI
Dell Part# : A0683254

The 2 keyways in the Slot indicate Universal PCI aka 3.3v or 5v is ok.

Anyway, the 9250 card is old, and junk.  You can do so much better.  Try to do a Google Search for your area for either the PCI X1300 card or the X1300 1X PCI-Express card

Do not buy a 16X pci-express card nor AGP
