Dimension E520 Ram Upgrade

Hi.

I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM to 2 or 3GB, purchased from Crucial.

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=7ACF8B59A5CA7304 1GB kit for 2GB total.

Any suggestions/recommendations or possible problems?

I have an E520 and upgraded my ram to 2gb X 2 of  2 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM. Ram is cheap, I'd go with 4g (2 X2) and stick with a good name like corsair. Just drop in slot 1 and 3 and you'll be running dual channel.

Thanks.

So, for it to be dual channel, do the 4 sticks have to be equal?

 ie 2x512 + 2x512gb (for 2gb total)  OR can it be 2x512 + 2x1gb (for 3gb total)  ?

Is there a point where adding more RAM is a waste due to the processor speed?

Don't think that would be running dual channel but it might not matter. If I were you I'd just buy two identical 2gb sticks. 4gb total. Ram is dirt cheap now. Maybe you could sell the others on ebay or to a friend or something.
