I have the same problem... start, run type msconfig , startup tab ,and uncheck Dell service I believe. My hard drive died and I had to reinstall everything and the support button doesn't work now.. That stopped the message on startup.
I had the same problem after Dell replaced the defective hard drive on my new Dimension 8100. I E-mailed Dell and (in addition to telling them they should preinstall software on their replacement drives) got the fix from them.
If you don't wat to turn off Dell support as GlennKs suggested, you need to download the latest version of Dell Support Center available at this web address:

I downloaded it and installed it and it solved the E-support button problem.
