Error when installing display drivers

While attempting to update my display drivers I keep getting this error message "Windows could not load the installer for Display.  Contact your hardware vendor for assistance"

I have followed the instructions (several times over) on how to install or update the drivers and no matter what get this same error message.  And now, some how in the process, the drivers I currently have are no longer working (there is a yellow exclamation next to their listing in the manager listing and no games will run).

I am serious inept at computers but I can follow instructions so I am not sure where I went wrong.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

try driverheaven.net , be sure to follow the instructions in the README file . IF you need more information try Chris M's thread on driver cleaners. Good luck.

Where do you get a "driver cleaner" as I seem to be having the same trouble!

Thanks,

Also shouldn't system restore take me back to when my original drivers were working?  Because it doesn't.

In the instructions for the cleaner it says to remove NVIDIA from the add/remove programs.  When I try to do this the system will not let me... saying that the 'specified module could not be found'  (Course when I try to install it says I already have it installed) do you think this will make a difference?

its very important you follow the instructions in the read me file. IF ya do all traces of Nvidia should be wiped from your comp , giving u a clean slate to install new drivers.
