Fatal Exception Error When Installing Video Card

I am trying to install an ATI Radeon 7000 PCI video card on a Dimension L433c with integrated video and running Windows 98SE. I followed the instructions on the Video forum for disabling the onboard video and enabling PCI video in the BIOS.

When I try to install the drivers, I get a Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C02A90CC in Vxd VWin32(05) + 00000BF4.

I first tried the recommended "Express" install. I then tried installing just the driver. I finally tried using Alt+Ctrl+Delete to shut down everything but Explorer and Systray before the installation. Same result.

Any suggestions?

Turn off Anti virus program running on the backround.

Right click on an empty screen on your desktop to go to display properties, settings, advanced, adapter. then change video driver to standard vga then reboot.................

install your pci card then power up your system...........pnp will detect and tries to install your card but cancel the darn thing..........after that pop the graphic driver for your card and install them .........reboot then your set........

goodluck im too lazy to go into details so most of it are pure common sense...........
