GPU temp

My GPU's Ambient temp ranges from 36-49 and Core temp ranges from 48-57+, is this normal or should I be concerned.

Thanks.

When I had a 6800 in my system it would idle in the low 50's and hit 75-77 under full load (core), I haven't checked the 7800 yet

Maybe you should give the computer more room to breath.

No maybe about it....and no surprise your system is running hot. Given the one year to 16 month vintage of a Gen 3, the fact you're now seeing hi-temp warnings for the x800xt card could mean you've already damaged it.

For comparison, my x800xt GPU temp is around 34C at boot up, 45 to 48C at system idle, and tops out at 66 to 68C when playing FEAR, Far Cry, HL2, etc.(stock Gen3 cooling and with ATI Overdrive enabled).

Damaged.

Not Damaged.

Smoke and/or flames are also good indicators. :smileywink:

Relocate the computer to where you have at least a foot of open space behind and to either side of it (and no where near a heat register), then see if the high temp warning still occurs when you're running your games for a period of time. If you still get a high temp warning, then shut down, open the case and make sure all fan exhaust grilles are clear and/or no dust buildup inside the case. With the case open, power up and make sure all cooling fans are running: video card, the 2 processor fans, the single fan located at the rear of the PCI slots and the 2 power supply fans. If all fans are running, no fan exhaust grilles blocked and the inside is free of dust build up and you still get the high heat warning, then I'd say your video card has been damaged.
