How do you get Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro keyboard to work with Windows 7 ?
How do you get a Microsoft Natural KeyboardPro keyboard to work with Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 620? I got an adaptor so
it connected to the USB port, but the computer did not recognize it. It appears that Microsoft driver updates for this keyboard do not include Windows 7, but I'm hoping ther is a way to make it work. Thanks, Dave

You use the REAL PS2 adapter for the 620. Depends on the SIZE of your model AKA USFF SFF DESKTOP, TOWER.
Old keyboards use 10x more power than new ones.
Thats why Generic USB PS2/Keyboard Adapters don't work.
Or you buy a new version of that keyboard that is USB now.

I assume the Microsoft keyboard is a PS/2 type connection. Some PS/2 adapters can be the problem, others the keyboard will not work with a USB adapter. I do part-time PC support and have found it to be a "hit and miss" on whether the PS/2 type will work.
Best to either use the supplied Dell keyboard or go buy a USB connected keyboard that you like.

You cannot use an adapter. You have to use a usb keyboard. Keyboards are recognized pre-boot (before Windows loads)so you can select F2, F8 or F12 or perfrom other tasks. Adapters don't allow that. As Speedstep says, use the usb kb that came with the computer or buy a new one.

Thanks for taking the time to shed some light on this issue. Someone at work gave me an adaptor that worked. It was not from the Dell lin you suggested, but it must be a REAL PS2 adaptor, so this seemed to answer my question. Thanks!

There are vendors that sell adapters that look correct as far as the connections but do not work at all due to being passive and not providing enough power.
