ialmrnt5 error
okay, i've had my dell 4600S for three days now. last night, while working, i got a blue screen that said that windows had shut down because of some sort of error that had to do with a 'ialmrnt5' file. did a little research and it has something to do with a driver. does anyone know what this is or what the hell i do to fix it? i mean, come on, my system is BRAND NEW!!!

Had same problem with ialmrnt5 driver straight out of the box. Brand new 4700 System is **extremely** unstable. Freezes and blue-screens multiple times a day. Downloaded latest driver from Intel site as recommended by someone on this thread. Saw some improvement. However, the problem is still present. I can make the system crash every time I try to print from Adobe Acrobat Reader. It just seems silly that a system with problems of this magnitude would ever ship from Dell.
Googled on the problem, and it seems to be ubiquitous. Though, the tech. support guy that I got had never heard of the problem. He talked me through a few things that made the problem so bad that I could not even boot without getting the error or a blue screen.
Was able to stabilize the system by disabling all hardware accelerations. This is not an acceptable solution.
Still waiting for a callback. But I won't hold my breath...

Not yet - Dell seems to think it is with the Sonic DVD player. I called Sonic - They were no help

To justify common cause I suggest we list out our computer specs and any way to replicate this problem.
Personally, the (blue screen of death) BSOD occurs when I try and run the following programs:
Heroes of Might and Magic 5
Warcraft: The Frozen Throne
Another common point: DELL technical staff have "never" heard of this problem before. lol. how interesting eh?
Initially the programs start up and after the inital cinematics, the computer freezes and the BSOD appears with the ialmrnt5.dll error AND a "stuck in an infinite loop" error.
The problem system specs are as below:
Dell Inspiron 4600
Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset (yes.. integrated graphics)
DirectX 9.0c
IMO.
It's a hardware problem. The technical fella asked me to run "dell diagnostics". I'll run that thing in couple of hours and then we'll see. =P

Though relieved, this solution had an ostensibly bittersweet ending. Dell should acknowledge that their diagnostics tool is inept in detecting certain hardware faults and not keep insisting that there is nothing wrong with their systems and instead blame the software vendors.
Special thanks to HuiLing of DELL support Singapore for her dedicated follow-ups and patience. =P
p.s.
any IALMRNT5.dll errors.. the problem, if unique for the same program, should lie with Dell.
Cheers.
