ialmrnt5 error

okay, i've had my dell 4600S for three days now. last night, while working, i got a blue screen that said that windows had shut down because of some sort of error that had to do with a 'ialmrnt5' file. did a little research and it has something to do with a driver. does anyone know what this is or what the hell i do to fix it? i mean, come on, my system is BRAND NEW!!!

I'm having the same problem. Were you able to find a solution?

I assumed it was a video Driver error so I installed the Intel 845 G/GL Integrated Video Driver twoards the end of July. When I was still having a problem I checked the Dell website again and there was a newer version dated 7/31/02 so I installed that one hoping that the problem would be fixed. But the blue screen of death still pops up a couple of times a day and when I restart it says that the problem is with ialmrnt5

yeah, i found a solution alright - A NEW SYSTEM!!! after pulling what seemed to be 40,000 wisdom teeth, they sent me a new one. all the stuff about installing the latest drivers is bull, regardless of what you install you'll still get the blue screen. believe me, i've been there. my thing is, if i have a BRAND NEW system that was custom built, why should i have to install ANYTHING? good luck my friend. (can you tell there's a little animosity there?)...

boy are you right on!!!!  I have had the same problem and i am fed up.  customer support has no idea what causes this problem or how to resolve it.  they have you go through so many hoops.  they are grasping at straws on this one.  they continually make promises about when then will call back, but the are never on time.  i think their support is terrible.  i have had them trying to fix this problem for about three months.  i have demanded to speak with a manager but they will not put me through.  it is always "lets try this one last thing",  well, the one last this is going to happen tomorrow morning and they said if it did not work i would be transfered directly to a manager and a new system would be sent out.  i will believe it when i see it.  just terrrible support.

great i now have the same problem and after only around 2 weeks of having the computer and not even having the internet on it yet its not like ican easily go and download the drivers as my only internet access is through my old computer, and even if i do do u think that just wont work,
i feel like i;v paid a fair amount for this computer and its had nothing but problems since i got it, i am so annoyed if i knew this was going to happen i would have been content sticking with my old knackered laptop which is still going and working alot better than my brand new computer.
shall i even bother going through all teh bother installing all my wireless internet stuff to get online to download the driver updates?

http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel915g/sb/CS-016497.htm This is a link to intels oppineon and solution on this problem. I would just like to say thank you to Dell. They have successfully put me on hold and disconnected me from there helpline the most imes. I live in the UK and can not access the UK support site, you have no technical support, your products are full of faults and your staff do not seem to know anything about your computers. NEVER BUY DELL!!!:mansad:

Had same problem with ialmrnt5 driver straight out of the box. Brand new 4700 System is **extremely** unstable. Freezes and blue-screens multiple times a day. Downloaded latest driver from Intel site as recommended by someone on this thread. Saw some improvement. However, the problem is still present. I can make the system crash every time I try to print from Adobe Acrobat Reader. It just seems silly that a system with problems of this magnitude would ever ship from Dell.

Googled on the problem, and it seems to be ubiquitous. Though, the tech. support guy that I got had never heard of the problem. He talked me through a few things that made the problem so bad that I could not even boot without getting the error or a blue screen.

Was able to stabilize the system by disabling all hardware accelerations. This is not an acceptable solution.

Still waiting for a callback. But I won't hold my breath...

This update won't work for me.  I was given this from the support people too and have downloaded it 3 times.  It downloads fine but it won't install.  I get the error message "This driver cannot be installed on this computer.  Please contact the computer's manufacturer for further information."  This fixed the problem for you??  Dell also gave told me to download R112732 which I did, but it didn't help.  I've had this computer 2 weeks and can't even play games on it!!

Hi, has anyone figured out how to fix this issue yet? I just bought the XPS 140 and all I want to do is connect the VGA cable to the PC-IN slot of my tv and I get that BSOD indicating the same ialmrnt5 infinite loop error. I called Dell and they gave me a runaround for THREE hours and then hung up on me?!!!! I have uploaded new drivers, changed resolutions etc but nothing seems to work? Any solution/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you!

We have a common problem here with the "ialmrnt5.dll" display driver. We also share the common problem of having this problem despite it occuring on a new dell computer.

To justify common cause I suggest we list out our computer specs and any way to replicate this problem.

Personally, the (blue screen of death) BSOD occurs when I try and run the following programs:

Heroes of Might and Magic 5
Warcraft: The Frozen Throne

Another common point: DELL technical staff have "never" heard of this problem before. lol. how interesting eh?

Initially the programs start up and after the inital cinematics, the computer freezes and the BSOD appears with the ialmrnt5.dll error AND a "stuck in an infinite loop" error.

The problem system specs are as below:

Dell Inspiron 4600
Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset (yes.. integrated graphics)
DirectX 9.0c

IMO.
It's a hardware problem. The technical fella asked me to run "dell diagnostics". I'll run that thing in couple of hours and then we'll see. =P

Dell diagnostics didn't turn up anything unusual.. My program still hangs. Someone please try and get a solution soon.

After 3 weeks. Dell replaced my motherboard. The problem was rectified.

Though relieved, this solution had an ostensibly bittersweet ending. Dell should acknowledge that their diagnostics tool is inept in detecting certain hardware faults and not keep insisting that there is nothing wrong with their systems and instead blame the software vendors.

Special thanks to HuiLing of DELL support Singapore for her dedicated follow-ups and patience. =P

p.s.

any IALMRNT5.dll errors.. the problem, if unique for the same program, should lie with Dell.

Cheers.

I have had the same problem, and the same lousy service by Dell support. Many other people are having the same error and the same kind of pc crashes, and the same lousy service. Dell sent me some discs, I waited for them, but they turned out to be discs I already have. They want me to manually reinstall windows.

Anyways,  I figured out that I was not going to get any help from them, so I started trying to find my own solutions. My system is much more stable than when I first got it, but I still have problems such as booting up with no sound. With most people, lousy hardware seems to be the issue. I updated both my video driver and my intel Matrix Storage Manager,  the second one seem to help the most. I also upgraded the BIOS.  I've also updated the DLA driver. Now, my pc can sit idle, and not usually revert to 4bit resolution mode.

If you are only using your XPS or Dimension for productivity (office work), and not video or games, you could slow down the hardware accelerator. Although when you pay lots of money for a pc, you expect to get your money's worth. New PC's are supposed to work! :smileymad:

I would take confort knowing that Dell is  thoroughly investing the problem seeing that the failure rate of there PC's this year is so high. One website dedicated to this problem had over 1000 hits.
