Installing a scanner
I am trying to install the software for my scanner (my computer is Windows XP) It tells me to "click here to install paper port" so I click there and nothing happens. However, eventually the scanner does get hooked up but some of the features don't work. So, I took everything out and tried again...same results. I took the disc and installed it on my other computer, also Windows XP, and everything installed beautifully? What is wrong with this computer and how do I fix it so the scanner will download correctly??? Thanks

Since you have an XP system, do a System Restore back to a date/time PRIOR to first trying to install the scanner. Then start the installation process again (do not connect the scanner to the PC until the installation program tells you to).
If there is no other issues with this PC, the scanner should install.
You didn't provide any System Specs (Model Number) or what the scanner is, all anyone can do is offer you general suggestions.
BTW, Dell has a Peripheral Device section on the forum for Printer/Scanner issues and the most applicable section for this post.
