Installing Processor, Retention Problems
Hey guys I'm having problems releasing the rentention module clip as displayed here in this image:
http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/impactcomputersmiami_1997_2090510389
The computer i have is a dimension 4600. The problem I'm having is that the manual doesn't really tell me what to do and i sat for about 30minutes trying to get the clip to release with no success or progress.
Can anyone explain in detail how to do this correctly so that I can install my new processor?

Refer to my un-impressive graphic.
Pull the red colored portion inwards and downwards.
This will flex the side colored in blue inwards.
Then pull the whole clip out towards you.
SORRY.. the graphic may not display for about half an hour because I have exceeded my geocities network bandwidth for this hour.

Yeah I already said I read the online manual and it provided no help Bev.
Also ti_ger thank you for the image but I just tried what it explains, the little part gets released at the side when you push it in wards, but how are you supposed to exert a downward push, whilst lifting upwards? If you let go, the thing won't go up and if you keep pushing you can't lift it anyway. There is also very little if any space where you can actually get a grip on the thing apart from that bendy part.
This is a nightmare.

All I can say is that you have to pull inwards and lift up at the same time. It shouldn't be all that hard to get out... at least on my Dimension 3000 it wasn't too bad.
Maybe a couple of pliers or forceps would make the job easier?
