Intel Matrix Storage Manager

What is the newest version of this that will work properly on a Dell XPS Gen 4- Win XP SP2?

Check Intel's web site for the latest version.

The inf file installer and the Matrix Storage manager on the Dell site for systems tends to be a much older version than the ones on Intel's site.

For example my laptop's version of the inf installer from Dell is 8.2.0.1014 while the one from Intel is 8.3.1.1009.

Is it a safe bet to use the olders ones from Dell or has anyone had good success using the latest drivers from Intel instead?

Thanks

Intel's site lists many versions and does not designate which one is compatible with my computer. The main reason I ask this is because no matter what version I use when reloading Windows using the F6 install, soon after I get the BSOD. The only way I can reload Windows successfully is to use the Windows driver. Then I install IMSM after Windows totally sets up which is not the preferred way to install IMSM according to the included help files. Please advise on why this is happening.

Do you know what chipset your XPS has on the motherboard? You can download the specific software based on your chipset. Along with the full IMSM there will also be a download for a floppy install that can be used to accomplish the install.

Of course doing the F6 approach requires the use of a floppy drive and then selecting the proper controller from the list, which is why you need to know which one is on the motherboard.

I have run across this problem with newer systems that use AHCI and Windows Xp does not recognise this interface. If you select the wrong controller from the list, you do get a Blue Screen.
