Measuring FPS?
I'm curious - how do you actually measure/view the Frames Per Second that you are getting with your particular video card?
I have read of people running a special benchmark program such as AquaMark (which I have never used or seen...) And I have also read of people reporting that they are getting "40 FPS" etc. running a particular game or whatever - how are they measuring that?
Thanks!

Google the following:
3DMark2001 SE
3DMark2003
Aquamark
These are all popular benchmark programs that test the overall performance of a computer, with emphasis on frame rate. They all provide numerical indexes of your computer's performance. Run a couple of these and post your results. The other folks here can tell you if you're running fast/slow given your current platfrom (what are you running anyway?). To give you an idea, my 3DMark2003 benchmark is: 9500 with my setup.

Thanks for the responses. Not a huge gamer, but the ones I have tried did not have that neat FPS Counter feature, so that explains that... thanks for the references, I will try tinkering with FRAPS and/or a benchmark program on the weekend...
I have a Dim 2400 Celeron, am currently playing Battle for Middle Earth (a gift). Thanks to the tips on these forums, I improved my performance by tripling my RAM (added 512 to my existing 256MB), and upgraded from Integrated graphics to a BFG GeForce FX5200 OC PCI card. (I'm in Canada, couldn't get a rare FX5600 PCI shipped here!). It's nice not to have to run on Very Low settings anymore, and improved on the video "stuttering" problem.
Maybe in a few years the Wife will let me buy a new, higher performance machine! :)
Thanks again.
