memory card reader for XPS710

mine didn't come with one but now I want one. I looked at dell E&A and found three different links for the same thing but none of them said XPS so I was wondering if it comes with the necessary cable for 710 and if it fits (as far as i can tell it's the same thing).

1 2 3

any other ideas?

Those will work but I think they do not come with the internal cable that goes from the motherboard to the back of the drive.
In the FAQ at the top of the forums, Chris has the part numbers (these are spare parts so you would have to order two things) but anyway the cable part number is in there. Actually for the matter so is the XPS media drive but I do not think it is any different from the one you linked.

Another option is a Mitsumi 3.5 floppy / combo card reader. You can get them from new egg and the card reader hase an internal USB cable atted to connet to the motherboard USB port. My only concern would be whether the cable was long enough. Its a big case. I think $34 is actually not bad as a delivered price and for a part that you know will work.

I wanted one too after i bought my xps700 on the outlet, I found a seller off ebay that was what they call a "power seller".I dont remember the price for sure but if i remember right it was around $20 dollars plus $6 for shipping. It also came with the cable.I  just tried to look them back up but could find em. I did find this seller that seems legit.

Also i wanted to note im not 100% sure these will all fit in a xps.Maybe seller or dell could help with part numbers that fit.
Mine i bought sold for a xps600, and it worked.

can someone take a picture of the both ends of the cable. the cable i got doesn't fit on the motherboard. I want to see if i can salvage the card reader at least. clicky, this is what the cable I got looks like it's got a different connector than that of the 710
