I accidentially cancelled an upgrade or something for the multimedia audio controller and now it wont work. When i looked for it there was a yellow question mark on it and myother audio stuff(Audio Codecs etc.) are working properly but have an unknown location. it also says i have no audio device but my speakers on my monitor are connected. What do i do?!?!?!?!

hey, im a bit new to this and didnt know where to post my querie but ill try this!
while clearing up any excess programs from my computer, i think i accidentally deleted my sound system, or whatever controls it! there is now a yellow qustion mark over the icon and ive tried everything - system restore, device manager etc but it keeps telling me that i dont have the software for it. to make things worse, before i realised what id done, i cleared my recycle bin.
where can i find the software to bring back the sound?
thanks

Hi, Vitoria. Go to the link below, enter your system model or service tag, and look at the drivers listed under Audio.

If you need help figuring out what you've got, please post your model number and operating system :) .

Hello, I have an (older) Dell Optiplex 260 that had been wiped clean. Tabula Rasa. Installed XP, Driver package (as shipped) per the tag number... Everything works except sound. Checked drivers, reinstalled ADI 198x integrated audio driver... Still no sound even though the audio drivers show installed and working. Only thing not working is the Multimedia Audio Controller which has the BIG YELLOW ? mark. Tried windows updates, online searches, nada. Nuttin' to 'restore'. Just how screwed am I?

I had to reload my harddrive, under Device Manager>Other devices are three (3) items "Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audion Controller, and SM Bus Controller.
My problem, when I download Multimedia Audio Controller, message regarding driver already downloaded but when I select Multimedia Autdio Controller, message regarding: The drivers for this device is not installed (Code 28). To reinstall the driver for this deivce, click Reinstall Driver.
I have tried the wizard: Install the software automatically (Recommended) as well as Install form a list of specific location (Advanced), message "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software.
Any idea why?
