Non-System Disk Error

I bought a used computer and was told the hard drive was wiped clean. When I turned it on, I get this message "Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready"

Hi cherrs,

Thanks for posting.

Your desktop is obviously still trying to boot from the hard drive ( which does not have an OS on it) instead of the USB drive. Go into BIOS Setup and set the USB drive as the first boot device, then "Save & Exit" (F10). Then insert your installation media into the US port and it should boot from that.  If you would post your computers make and model along with the Operating System, you may get a more exact answer.
