Old Keyboard Compatibility With New Computer?

I just replaced my almost eight year old (you're chuckling about that, right?) Dell with a brand new Dell Inspiron with TONS more memory, disk storage and s-p-e-e-d! I'm thrilled with every aspect of the new unit except one . . . the keyboard. I'm constantly making keystroke errors. Perhaps this is due to the old keyboard being just a tad wider and having raised keybuttons. Regardless, I much prefer the old keyboard and would like to use it with the new computer.

The connector at the end of the old keyboard's cable is round (with a violet-colored sleeve) . . . and there doesn't appear to be a corresponding compatible port on my system unit in which to plug it. The new keyboard's cable has a flat-type connector.

My question: (1) If the old keyboard is compatible with the new computer, is there some sort of adapter to allow connection?

Note: The old keyboard has the following inscribed on the bottom: TH-04N454-37171-38U-D326  (it also reads "Made in Thailand").

Also on the bottom: 1. RT7D20 (this the Keyboard Model)

The connector on the old keyboard is a "PS/2" connector.  All new PC's (from all vendors) use USB.  There are adapters available, at most PC outlets, office supply stores, etc that will adapt the PS/2 to USB.  Most keyboards will work with the adapter but not all.

This is a Dell Dell 4N454 keyboard.  I would use a  USB to PS2 converter.

This PS/2 Keyboard to USB Adapter from StarTech.com features a USB-A male connector and a 6-Din (PS/2) female port. It allows you to connect a PS/2 keyboard to a computer through a USB port

I suggest trying StarTech.com's USBPS2PC

Manufacturer Part# : USBPS2PC

Dell Part# : A0377583

STARTECH.COM USB to PS2 Keyboard and Mouse Adapter : Desktop - Dell
