OptiPlex Gs - Keyboard error

I have got a very strange problem with the keyboard on 3 Dell OptiPlex Gs PC's. Yesterday i checked all of them for Bios-Information, but today they don't accept any keyboard (IBM, Acer, Dell, ...). During the POST(Boot) keyboards first are accepted (Num-Lock) , after 1-2 sec. the pc makes a continously error-sound and keyboards hang up. Yesterday it works and i only checked bios, but don't change any settings.

Hi,

I have similar problems, we do have 70 optiplex PC's and the machines deliverd in the past year have many keyboard-errors. Most the time it looks like the windows-flag button hangs. So if you press a "d" all windows close. You press an "e" and the explorer comes up... It's impossible to login. Strange thing is that I have to try several keyboards on the PC (both USB and PS2) 'till I find a working one. But the "broken" keyboards work on other PC's very good.

Sometimes it takes a while and the same problem comes up. Than I start swapping keyboards again. Yesterday the brand-new optiplex of my boss refused to work with any keyboard. I got mad and went a little hard on the plugs - now it's working again.

This gives me the idea that the electrical connections on the board aren't ok.

Does anybody have similar experiences?

Regards, Georg
