Painfully Slow Printer

I have a new printer -- HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one. I'm running Windows XP, Service Pack 2 on a Dell Dimension, a Pentium 4 with 512 Mb memory. The printer is connected via USB. It's slow. Painfully slow. Maybe 2 minutes to print one page of ordinary Word text. Pictures are next to impossible. I'm using the driver that came with the printer. I can't find any driver updates. When I send a page to the printer, it (the printer) makes "hardware" sounds like it's alligning every moving part. But to start printing? Takes forever. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

Have you contacted HP? It sounds like a printer problem, not a system problem.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver software and reinstalling the driver software?

You might try downloading and installing an up to date driver off H.P.'s website for your specific printer.
