Parallel or Serial Port
Which do I need to connect a Dimension 2400 to an Epson 80 TPIII receipt printer?

I've done several searches using Google search and the Epson site and can't find anything on an Epson 80 TPiii unit. There must be some other model designation or it's an obsolete unit that's no longer referenced.
But in any case, with a 2400, I assume it's a Windows XP machine. Normally older printers connect to the Printer (parallel) port. BUT, you main concern is not which port to connect it to, but whether or not it's Windows XP compatible. Many older peripheral devices designed for older Windows Operating Systems are not XP compatible. You cannot use the drivers from an older operating system, you must have Windows XP specific drivers.
Also the interface cable connector will tell you which port it is designed for as the parallel and serial ports have different connectors.

Here's a link to the epson site and the technical data on it. http://www.epson.de/rsd/english/product/tm/thermo/Website_TM-T88III_e.pdf
According to the data sheet, standard is RS232 serial (com port) or Parallel. There are options available for other interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, etc.
But, there's no mention of any operating system compatibility.
It was easy to find with the correct model number
I went to www.google.com and did a search of the model number.
