Performance Question?!?

Could somebody with a comperable system to mine tell me how long the Blue Globe Screen stays up when turning the computer on. Just so people know the screen stays up for 10 sec. on my machine. I have:

Dimension T700r
128 MB RAM
48X MAX CD ROM
8X/4X/32X CD-R/RW Drive
Floppy Drive
SB LIVE! VALUE Sound Card
NVIDIA GeForce 32 MB Video Card
MDP3900V-U Modem(56K)
ATA/66 Controller Card
20GB Ultra ATA HD
Basic Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse

Hi, If you want to see what's going on behind the Dell Splash Screen just press Escape key when it first starts. I have a Dell XPS R350 and 10 seconds seems about normal. HTH

Yeah, I know about that. I'm just being paranoid since a Dell tech had me format my HD and reinstall Windows. I couldn't remember how fast it was running before and have been having suspicions that my performance has dropped since I reinstalled Windows. I just wanted to be sure.

Thanx anyway!

you can shorten the amount of time by turning off some of the tests the bios runs at boot up by turning on quick boot (sounds about right) I hate looking at that stupid globe and this helps

OK, thanks. As I said its probably just paranoia since I had to take such a drastic measure to fix a problem.

It has nothing to do with Windows. The "blue globe" runs from the BIOS during the POST tests (before Windows starts). The primary factor affecting it's durarion is how much RAM you have.

Hi,

If you want to get rid of the large globe and see some post messages instead, disable Quiet Boot in the Bios.

Have a Good One.....
