Power Problems with XP

Question

I have a problem with the power management options in XP. When the screensaver is on, the monitor will not go into standby mode according to the settings in the power management options. Has anyone else had this problem? If set the monitor to turn off in 10 minutes and the screen saver to start in 15 minutes, the monitor goes from standby into to normal to start the screensaver.

If this is a desktop PC don't use the Power Manager since it doesn't work well for desktops and is intended for laptops.

I have the same 'problem.' Well, I don't consider that a problem; I just figure that it does not work that way so I learned not to use it. I don't really use those features. I only go to standby sometimes by pressing my cresent button on my keyboard. It works great eventhough people keep on saying that the feature does not work with PC. In conclusion, I think the problem is not a problem at all. It's normal. Work your way around it, which you already did.

I have found that some screen savers screw up the timing required for the monitor to go into power save mode. i.e. with some screen savers it works and with others it doesn't.

I use the default screen save for XP. It kicks in after 10 minutes and power save after 20. Works like a charm.

Why not just turn off the sceen saver? You can't see the screen saver when the monitor is off, besides you don't need a screen saver anyway.
