re loading windows xp
My old Dimension E510 svc tag < ADMIN NOTE : Service tag removed per privacy policy > crashed ! I have reloaded the o s using the factory dvd. I now have several categories in the device manager that have big yellow question marks! Ethernet adapter, P C I device, S M bus controller, video controller, and video controller vga compatible. I have gone to the downloads page to try downloading the chipset driver into my other p.c. But all I get is the download manager which is empty !PLEASE HELLP!Thanks Paul

Paul,
First, please click on the green pencil in the above post and please remove your service tag number. This is like your serial number.
When you installed the operating system, did you install the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
You should be able to start with the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers, then install the drivers in order. Things should start working.

Hi Rick! Thanks for the tip on loading sequence. That was the problem all along. I also found out that most of the drivers I was trying to load were seriously outdated. I downloaded them on my other p.c. (couldn't use Firefox it wouldn't load even after installing the add on???) Anyway the system works great and my son has learned that if you run a 60 gig hard drive at 59.9 somethings gotta give! Thanks for your help I was really getting frustrated. Paul
