scheduled tasks

Purchased my computer in January 2000. Some maitenance tasks already scheduled. I added another one in July. When I checked recently, no scheduled task had been performed. My computer is turned off every night. I thought the program was to wake the computer and perform the task. Why did that not happen? Is this a hardware or a software problem?

its a software problem...and not even a problem. The only way your computer will run tasks is with the following to things....1. your computer has to be on, i can be in standby, or sleep, or with the power saving feature on. And two 2. your computer has to be idle at the time of scheduling. Well, this second one i dont know about...i dont think it will run if your using the computer at the same time. But, i do know that the computer at least has to be on when the task is to take place. If for even a second, the computer is not on at the time it was suppose to do the task, the computer will skip that scheduled task till next time. It is pretty common for it to do that. And another thing....task scheduler uses A LOT of resources. Most of the time, people just manually scandisk, or defrag their hard drive once a week. Good luck, hope this helped
