USB-Parallel cable causes hang on start up
I purchased a Buslink USB-Parallel cable which, after installation, causes my system to hang and will not allow it to proceed beyond the POST screen on start up.
Removal of the cable will allow the system to boot normally. Installation was as per instructions with the software provided and all dialog screens were as seen in the instruction booklet provided. Win 98 SE USB update patches 1 and 2 were installed as suggested on the Buslink site
MS KB # 250635 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;250635&Product=w98) leads me to believe that this is a BIOS related issue. So my question is this: has anyone else experienced a similar issue and if so, was it resolved by the installation of an an updated (or another) BIOS version?
System info is as follows:
-OS: Win 98SE
-XPS T550
-Memory: 128 MB RAM
-BIOS: Phoenix BIOS A04, version 4.0, release 6.0
Thanks!

zxasqw12,
Go into the BIOS of the system to the advanced section and to the peripheral configuration submenu and disable the Legacy USB Support. This should allow the system to boot with this cable attached to the system.
