XPS 420 change power supply

Dear All, Yesterday, I changed power supply for my XPS 420. The new one is SU RAIDMAX|RX-530SS 530W RT and the old one is 375W. After I turned it on, everything worked well. But I didn't turn it on for a long time. Do I have any missing points to replace a power supply? I just changed it without checking anything else. If I have to check it before I replace it, please let me know. Thanks,

againsmile,

Yours is the first report of anyone doing this to the XPS 420.

Hi~ PS still works well. I'm watching movie now. You can find this PS at newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028 When I install this PS, the one thing I have to think about is the size. The size between the original one and this one is different. The height of this one is small.( I think the PS of dell is big. ) So, there is a little space. I uesd screws and I can fix it. (Still, thers is a space behind of the computer) If there is any problem with this one, I'll post it. Thanks,

Can only echo what Chris said you really are the 1st one who has reported changing it on the entire interweb!!

Post back exactly what happens when you push the power button. I mean exactly.

Could you also post a link to the PSU on a eshop or manufacturers website never heard of a power supply with that name.

When you changed it over, everything should have just worked, make sure you plugged in smaller 4 & 6 pin connectors properly. I have not received my 420 yet, its arriving at the start of the week so will get a chance to fiddle about with it then and see whats what.

grprixgt97,

Currently no. Since againsmile got that one working, go with it. Of course, Dell will only support the hardware we shipped.

if you are under warrenty then yes they will send you one. or if you have onsite you can get a tech to do it. Just contact support tell them your issues and politely demand a new supply..

Its a reset switch instead of blowing a fuse this goes and you push the button to get going again.

well i recieved my 425watt replacment today..swapped out the power supplys...the new power supply that dell sent me does the same thing..makes a HIGH PITCH SOUND..so i take it..it must be the model /brand of power supply...well i guess my only luck is to buy my own from a store and take my chances.....sheesh i love this computer but the noise is driving me crazy...
