XPS 730 Air cooled lower chassis shroud missing, cpu cooling assembly fan squaking

Hello,

I received my XPS 730 yesterday, and I opened it up, and I noticed that there is only one fan shroud covering the top fron chassis fan, the bottom front chassis fan is exposed, but if you look at the pictures in the users manual, there is a shround over both fans, top and bottom, in both air and h2c.

Mine is air cooled. I was wondering if it is missing or not supposed to be there? I would want one installed since I find it is very unprofessional to sell a 2.5K system and not put all the parts in it.

Also, my cpu cooling assembly fan is squaking, could the assembly be replaced?

Thanks!

Mine's missing too... e-mailed support and they told me I had to call it in.  So I called the Canada XPS support line and the girl on the other end had no idea what I was talking about so I gave her the part number.  After 10 minutes of waiting on hold she got approval from her supervisor to send me one.  She insisted on sending a tech guy out to give it to me... weird, but if they want to waste money it's their perogative I suppose.

That is weird. It's only 2 screws that hold it in! It's very easy to install. Your lucky, it took me almost an hour to describe the shroud. It shows it very clearly in the manual on page 172 for the air cooled system. They kept on insisting it was for the liquid cooled system. Oh brother! But I finally did convince them that it was indeed for the air cooled. Got mine in less than 24 hours

Hello,

After reading this thread I called Tech. Support and after about 30+ minutes on Friday I received the shroud today. I had sent a PM to Chris M in Aug. when I received my 730, but at that time his reply was that the H2C unit was the only one with a shroud.

Thanks to All

I returned to Dell Chat today to asked for the lower shroud again, this time I sopke with someone having a good day, so my Shroud should be on it's way tomorrow. My system will almost be perfect once I receive it.

All I need now is another 9800gx2 and 8GB of SLI certified Memory
