PH3N0M

I see from your sig why you think you 100% correct.  You are running SLI.  Those of us running single ATI or Crossfire will get an error on installation of the system tools you have suggested.  As I stated before, the motherboard is an X58(certainly not the Nvidia based motherboard like you had on you 710 and 720) and without an Nvidia card, the rest of us cannot use the tool like you can.

PH3NOM,

Is this the information you are looking for on the memory?

Thanks,

That is correct.  The ATI cards will not work with the NVIDIA System Tools.

I have asked this question a few times with no reply.  I really hope somebody here or Chris can help me.

I had to reformat my 730x (manually since there was no restore image) its all up and running fine now.  Except when I put my Creative X-Fi disk in that came with the system to install the drivers it says "ERROR can not find supported hardware on the system".  So I went to Creatives website, and downloaded the driver(s) from there... however the most important Creative program which I had on the system direct from Dell is isnt available on Creatives site.  It was called "Creative Web Updater" which I could just click and it would update all my sound drivers and programs automatically.  When I try to download that from Creatives website it says "this program is not supported by Windows Vista".   So how did Dell have it on my system?  I would love if anybody could tell me how to get that program back, or tell me how to make the disk that I got with the system work (and perhaps its on their).   I edit videos all the time, and w/o the most updated sound drivers I run into a lot of problems.  Any help would be truly appreciated.

Also, my system has 2 gigabit ethernet ports, and I have a gigabit router yet I only get 100MBPS as my connection speed.  Am I not setting something up correctly?

You don't need the Auto Update.  Just download the latest driver for your sound card.

It doesn't matter if you have 156,750 gigabit ethernet ports.  You can only download and upload at the speed that your ISP allows.

PH3NOM...

Thanks for the info.  My ISP must allow for more then 100MBPS b/c my laptops are at a 160Mbps connection.   So clearly there is a desktop/hardware issue.  I just dont know enough about the topic to fix it.

As for the Creative Software, when I went to the link you provided it still wont allow me to download it and says, "Creative Software AutoUpdate currently supports Windows® 98 or higher with Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.

Windows Vista is currently not supported. "

Its not just an issue with the sound card being updated, it updates all the programs as well that i use, so I really neeed to figure out why I cant get the program on my system now.  It makes no sence.

Hey, Joe, I need the Part Number that can be found when clicking the SPD tab at the top of CPU-Z.

When you can scrape up the dough, I'd scrap that Hynix RAM and buy a triple channel kit from Corsair.  It will perform better, faster, and allows for overclocking.  In the meantime, try these settings for your memory.  If it doesn't work then your only other option is to purchase better RAM.  I've used the same settings posted previously with Vista x64 before upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on Friday and everything is running like clockwork.

Timings:  7-7-7-18

Voltage: 1.5v

XMP Disabled

I do not have an option for XMP support under the Frequency/Voltage Control Screen. Could this be a problem? Is XMP support in some other menue?

Now when you say Voltage 1.5v are you talking about the DDR3 votage or the IOH voltage?

I looked around on the internet and noticed there is different Corsair DDR3 memory. Can you shoot me a link of exactly the RAM you are suggesting?

I have been saving money for a better video card (current 4850 512MB with dual 25" monitors). Should I wait on video card and go with Cosair RAM? I want to run COD5 at 1920 x 1080 with my DVI to HDMI cable.

PH3N0M,

Your answer is wrong concerning Ethernet Connection. ISP  Download-Upload Speed has nothing to do with it, this is about Network Speed.

Assuming your on Vista or Windows 7:

Right click my computer

Select Manage

Select Device Manager

Click Network Adapters-You will see two adapters

Right click first adapter

Click Properties, Advanced, Scroll Down and select Speed & Duplex

Set this to Auto

Repeat steps for 2nd Adapter

You should now see your Router connected at 10/1000 MBPS

This is the setting I have and my router, the light for connected port is green indicating 10/1000 MBPS Connection

If no success you can try setting it at 100Mb Full setting

I'm talking about adjusting your DDR3 voltage.  Here's the deal - when you adjust the Bclk (baseclock), it automatically increases the speed of the memory.  With your memory being DDR3-1066, it probably isn't easily overclocked, if at all.  You can try lowering your memory ratio to 8 and see if that works for you.  If not, you'll have to get faster memory.

This is what I use.

 Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 on Newegg.com - $179

What video card are you running right now?  Instead of purchasing dual 25" monitors, you should save your cash and purchase a 30".  Trust me, you'll be glad you did.  I just got mine on Friday and it rocks!!  I upgraded from a 24" HP w2408h @ 1920x1200 to a Dell 3007wfp-HC 30" @ 2560x1600.

Ooooh!  You're talking about the Dell Support Center.  You can find that here - Dell Support Center Download

Who is your ISP?  I'm not calling you a liar but unless you have an OC-3 (fiber optic line) piped directly into your house, you are not getting 100MBPS.

Your ISP has everything to do with it.  Regardless of your network, you cannot download or upload faster than your ISP connection allows.  If you pay for 20mb down and 3mb up, it doesn't matter if your ports can run as fast as 100MBPS.  You won't download/upload faster than what you're paying for.  That's a fact.

As for the settings on the NIC ports, they should've been automatically set to "Auto" already.  At least, my own were.

I currently have the HD 4850 512MB video card. I am looking to upgrade to a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102768 HD 4870x2.

I have dual 25" monitors because I received a great deal on them. I like playing my game on one and have stats up on the other.

I will try the changes you talked about upping the DDR3 voltage and lowering the memory ratio to 8 today or tomorrow and post my results.

Will the Dell 730x MBs support the DDR3-1600 speed now? Was that in a BIOS update? I thought I read before that they will only go up to 1066. Maybe I was wrong.
