XPS 8900 video resolutions?
I just got a HDMI cable on for my GTX 745. I plug it in and the resolution will go no higher than 1280.
If I put my DVI cable back on, I can go to 2560X1600.
Is there something I am missing?
I see the built in 8900 has DP and HDMI? What difference is there in using?
Can one use the build in and GTX 745 to drive 2 monitors? What connections are best to use if wanting to connect 2 monitors?

Yep, I had looked at that. But when I connect the HDMI, it says my max is 1280 which is much lower than the spec.

Specs are here http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-745-oem/specifications
Seems you should get the higher resolution via HDMI.

Cable problem? Some setting you need to change?

This is why I am asking what other folks have done to try and see if I am doing something wrong.

Okay, just got a DP cable which I hooked up. It did work on boot, but it again only lets the max resolution go to 1280by800, the same the HDMI do. So I must be missing something. So far other than the DVI on the GTX card, all the others will not go over 1280X800 which does not see right.

What is your monitor?
Have you used Nvideo utility in Control Panel to do set up?

I am using an HP 3065
I was using the Windows 10 that showed only low res stuff.
