Error installing USB Floppy SMARTDISK FDUSBB2

When I plug the drive into the USB port I suddenly get the blue screen telling me it is dumping physical memory. I get to the point Win XP recognizes there is a floppy drive before the blue screen. This is on a brand new Dimension 4700. Any ideas would be great. I tried this on another win XP machine and it worked fine.

Since this is a new PC, have you tried any other device, such as a printer, on the USB?

You could uninstall the USB in the Windows Device Manger, then restart Windows and the USB will be reinstalled.  Could be the USB did not get initialized correctly when you first started it up.

Otherwise, I'd contact Dell support, since it is new.

That is the part I am confused on since the USB printer, mouse, and scandisk media drive all work. I am A+ certified and I am stumped. Really was pushing off calling Dell since I have such bad luck with their support.

There's an option in the BIOS for USB "no boot".  Select that no boot option in the BIOS and see if that makes a difference.

I do PC support/repair and sometimes, where new/warranty is involved you have to deal with the PC vendors (and many that haven't got a clue).
