msimn.exe application error does dell listen ?????????

hello again i have told dells on line help about my problem and have also told them that i only know the basics i am by no way an i t man . they told me to  search my *.dbx files note the file location which i think is c:\program files\sonic\express\labeller\template then go to windows explorer then navigate to the file with your current store (no info on how to do this) then uncheck the read box on each file . windows explorer open up on six folders my ebooks my pictures my recieved files my music my psp8 files my video i uncheck read box as instructed but when i whent back in to see if it had did this they were all back to read only . after this they told me to uninstall xp and re install i dont have the know how to do this . and their latest pearl of wisdom was to use the recovery console to sort this problem as i have told them i dont know how many times i only know the very basics and it tells you in xp help and support program not to do these things unless you are a advanced user. the joy i had when i took delivery of this dimension 2400 p4 with ht tech has died a slow death i wish i had just kept my old packard bell i had no problems   can anybody out there tell me in very basic talk step by step how to sort this out

Modman, I know that someone on this forum can help. You will need to provide a bit more information. What computer do you have? What operating system is on your computer? I am assuming you are using Outlook Express for your e-mail. List the exact error message you are receiving.  Someone will help after you post back with a few more details.

mod man,

If Outlook Express ever worked correctly, use System Restore to return to the date it did so. If it did not, you might see if reinstalling Outlook Express will correct the problem. Instructions for this are here. (If you choose to reinstall Internet Explorer with the downloadable VB script available it may prove easier than reinstalling only OE.) Note that if you do this and your antivirus program is set to block script execution you will receive a warning that a script is attempting to execute. Grant permission for this action since you know what the script is.

The suggestion to change some *.dbx files from Read Only has no bearing on the error you are receiving, to my knowledge. It is a fix for a completely different problem, and I have no idea what you are supposed to do in Recovery Console.
