problems?

I set up my new pc just about a week or so ago...Everything has been working fine.
Today I logged online & things aren't the way they should be. When I try to scroll with the mouse it acts like it's rolling for a lack of a better word.
Also, when I type the text looks black at 1st but then changes to part red & part black if I scroll down the page.
I have no idea what the problem is or if I'm even at the right board. Help!

I take it the problem is with the New XPS, supposedly there is better tech support for those, give it a try. Have you installed any new video drivers or software since setting it up?

Well thank goodness the old pc still works cause the new one doesn't any longer.

To answer the question...the only thing recently installed was my new printer. Looking back from the beginning until yesterday, I remember complaining to my husband that the display didn't look right to me....not as sharp as what I'm seeing on this old monitor for sure but it wasn't acting up as it did yesterday.

I spent at least 3 hrs total with Support including hold times. Not easy when one has a broken neck to use a phone at all!

They had me uninstall the adapter...after that it wouldn't work any longer....ie: it finally quite working & in the end I had NO display at all.

They're going to send someone out to replace the card....hope that it comes with that fan too as I think that may be part of the problem...maybe not but I could hear something inside the tower reving up.

They replaced the card...now I have at least one more question.

Is the fan supposed to rev up while Norton is scanning my system for virus'?  ...or any other time?

During the original call to tech support I was asked if I had done any MS updates. I think I did initially after I installed AOL & went online for the 1st time. Etiher last Sat. or Sun. I had 2 pop ups stating there were updates...one from MS the other from Norton....I believe I did the one for Norton but I could be wrong as I can't remember what I did 5 minutes ago let alone a week ago!

Tech support told me MS updates could have affected the card &/or driver(s)?(again I don't remember exactly what he stated).....is this true? If yes, how do I avoid this in the future?

I had an awful time getting service....no one called back after my 1st call (made Sunday).

The person I talked to the 2nd time (Wed) put in the order (again?) for service as apparently something was messed up during 1st call....didn't call me back...I called back a 2nd time ...an hour later & was given a line of b about phone line problems (all over the world) Right! I had no problem using my phone & I'm a nobody compared to others! Stated he had tired to call me but no one did....  Neither one of these persons bothered to give me a new referance number & acted like they could care less ... insisting I call the outfit that services the pc instead of them from now on.

I get home from work Thurs... find a note left by hubby stating Dell had called.

I had given explicit instructions including my work number to call me there & NOT at home as I don't get home until at least 5PM. My husband works a 10hr night shift & gets home at 3AM.... they woke him up!....this makes my life miserable because he's sleep deprived & crabby!

Doesn't anybody at Dell LISTEN & take notes?

I call tech support again...this time I got someone who actually knew something....he put me on hold while he made a call, he came back, gave me his voice mail & told me to call him if I didn't get any results within an hour + he gave me the correct referance number too.

It's fixed! Well, at least I hope it is. But I was without my new computer from Sunday to Thursday!
