reid232,
You need to install your motherboard's chipset and USB 2.0 drivers. You don't say what model your computer is so I can't be any more specific than that.
How Do I Install the Intel Integrated Chipset Driver in the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System on My Dell™ Dimension™ 4550? <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
I would point out that the chipset drivers should be the very first thing installed after you install the operating system. If it isn't then the system may manifest a number of errors including video driver problems, sound driver problems, random lockups and other issues.
Are you talking about the recource cd? Windows didn't find the driver on it. Could you identify the file name please? Also, what does the SM Bus Controller do?
LSnK,
Did you read the article I put a link to in my last post? It explains precisely how to install the chipset drivers for a Dimension 4550 from the Resource CD.
Yes! The specific chipset can be downloaded from Dell downloads. Worked for me... (ie got rid of the SM Bus Controller exlamation!) Thanks to all who suggested it!

Thank you Namek :)
It was my chipset drivers and I managed to find them on the cd and get them installed. Everything is working now.
Thank you again!
