XPS and Plotters
I noticed that on the back of the XPSs (and it seems other new Dells) that there is not a place to plug in a 25 (?) pin plotter cable. Did I miss something? Are those big cables a thing of the past? Thanks.

If you need a parallel port, you could consider buying a PCI card with a parallel port, or buy a USB-to-Parallel converter cable (I used to use one for an old HP LJ Series 2+ (or something like that); it worked great, but not sure about how it would work with a plotter).

You can add pci, pci-express x16, and even a pci-express x1 card to the newer XPS systems. Which XPS system do you have ?

My XPS Gen 3 has a parallel and serial port.
For a while I used my old parallel cable until I could get a USB cable for my printer that handles both.
USB is tons faster.
I was also upset when the game port was removed from computers.
But new USB controllers are better too.
If you have a printer that only accepts parallel, there is probably a newer USB printer that has better output faster and cheaper too.
