Anyone using SMC 6.1 - Virtual Provisioning
I wanted to find out from any of the forum members their thoughts on SMC 6.1 and using Virtual Provisioning feature. We are currently looking at going to SMC 6.1 with the added feature of VP. We wanted to get some feedback as to how people are liking it. We tried the previous version of SMC and had severe issues with it conflicting with scripts that were running. More specifically we were having scripts fail right in the middle of executing because SMC was getting access to resources that should have be locked by the current script running in turn failing the script. Thanks!!

I have a customer that absolutely loves SMC. It is the preferred method for managing the Symmetrix. It is very lean and efficient. Provides some decent detailed performance with the assistance of SPA.

We are running SMC 7.1 on our V-Max SAN. I believe you will need 7.3 to take advantage of VP through SMC.
We are anpout to upgarde to 7.3 for this reason.
7.1 runs fine for us no real issues. The same as most EMC software speed of the front end could be improved.
Let me know if you want any more info once I am done upgrading.
