Can EMC Source One support the following features?

Hi,

I'm performing a review of Source One for Microsoft Exchange on the behalf of a client, and I wondered if you could answer some questions that I have.

Can Source One filter emails before archiving them (for compliance reasons)?

How sophisticated can the archiving policies be configured? Can I define the criteria in great depth?

Can Source One archive only mail enabled Exchange Public Folders?

Can Source One archive instant messaging platforms (such as MSN, Yahoo etc)?

Can Source One allow end users to initiate manual archiving of their mailboxes?

Can Source One support Legal Hold (or is that a separate product)?

Would Full Text indexing of email / attachments (inc PDF) and Full Text and metadata search be included with Source One, or would additional products be required for such functionality?

Can Source One tag/classify archived documents, or is that capability delivered via a separate product?

Can I perform a query that samples 1 in every 100 emails and lists them? (Report for HR without prejudice)?

Can retrieved emails from Source One can have Bates stamping?

Can Source One ingest and archive PST files, or is that a separate product?

Is there an add-in for the Outlook client?

If users used Outlook Web Access, can Source One support different types of web browsers?

Can Source One support legacy Exchange environments (5.5), and is there any support for Exchange 2010? (Considering using Source One to assist with upgrade/migration).

Will Source One support Apple Mac users?

What options does Source One have for the shortcut/stub left after archiving? (As in can we set how much data is left after the archive process thus assisting users with the initial sentence/paragraph from the original message)

Does Source One have an automated DR recovery option in the event a critical issue is encountered? Would this feature require a separate product?

How sophisticated is the Source One automated monitoring capability? (What can be monitored, how are alerts are generated etc?)

Your assistance with the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Joel

Hi Joel,

Since Source One is relatively new, I'm not sure how much information is available to general public to answer all of these questions. If I were you, I would ask your client to submit these questions to their local EMC sales rep. The EMC sales rep should be able to answer these questions or at least get someone from product team to respond to them.

Cheers,
Johnny

Hi Johnny,

Thanks for your quick reply. I understand that Source One hasn't been out for long, however I was hoping that some "feet on the street" or even some EMC techies were monitoring these forums and could provide some answers without the "sales pitch" angle (if you know what I'm getting at).

What's your opinion of this product?

Regards

Joel
