Hey @user_709319, everything good?

Yes,  I think the fluctuating voltage from your Power Supply Unit (PSU) is what is causing the automatic switching, the orange light, and the loud fans. The PSU is failing to deliver stable power to the motherboard.

Here is a very simple test you can do to confirm it:

The Bare Minimum Test: Disconnect everything you can to lower the power draw. Unplug the hard drive, CD drive, any extra expansion cards, and remove all RAM sticks except for one. Turn the PC on. If the light turns green and the fans quiet down, your PSU is definitely too weak to power the full system and needs to be replaced.

Check the Manual: To be absolutely sure, I suggest looking up the Dell OptiPlex 755 User Manual online. If you check the "Diagnostic Lights" section, it will confirm that an orange (amber) power button light paired with high-speed fans is Dell's official error code for a power supply or motherboard power failure.
