Question

Hello, I have a problem when i had a new LUN on one of my ESX servers. In fact when I go to configure/SCAN for new LUN the server crash and when he reboot I have this error message: Could not write out new initrds. /usr/sbin/esxcfg-boot failed, examine /var/log/vmware/esxcfg-boot.log for details. If i don't remove the LUN from the storage group of my server the server restart in loop. I had open the file esxcfg-boot 2007-05-03 16:50:41 (630) ERROR: Could not copy '/boot/initrd-2.4.21-37.0.2.ELvmnix.img-dbg' to '/tmp/vmware.1.tmp': No such file or directory 2007-05-03 16:50:41 (630) ERROR: Could not write out new initrds. Hi.knowing the ESX version, HBA and host would help, I don't think this is a storage problem I think this is a ESX problem, have you tried the Vmware support forum?have you check Disk.MaxLUN

This is happening to me also. I am connected via VMware iSCSI to a CX3-20c. Seems to happen for me when there are changes to the network switch. We found out that the networking was setup incorrectly. Its definatly a vmware problem. Still trying to figure out how to fix it. I will let you know if I find an answer.
