Pending enhancements
Hi,
Several items are recorded as pending enhancements since the upgrade at the end of april,
and one major enhancement seems to have dissappeared somehow.
I have asked for a status on these issues on several occasions, without any response, so I'll make another attempt.
We had a puzzled forum user last week, wondering how it is possible that some user have these enormous amount of points.
This can't be a kind of discouraging for new users, and several enhancements have been proposed.
1. Top Ten for each sub-forum, i.e. DFC, BOF, WDK etc. This was available prior to the
update of april 2006, and this should be a simple thing to put back in.
2. Top 20 users instead of Top Ten, maybe Top 15.
3. User's Ranking relative to Top 10/15/20.
4. Receive E-Mail notifications when points are awarded
5. User's should be able to reward points on other's answers
I think several of these issues would have a great impact by means of encouraging
new and old users to participate, as they do have the possibility to enter some of
the Top User lists a lot faster. At least I found this very encouraging
So, any news concerning these issues are highly appreciated.
Regards
Joerg

thanks for keeping me in check

I will try to be more responsive in the future - these requests were all in limbo while we worked on our migration to Powerlink.

I agree -in fact I had a meeting where we discussed this today, and our resources should have more freedom to look into this now that the hard work is over.
I know we recorded this request, but perhaps we should fine-tune it... the Landing Page is pretty bust already, and I'd not want to make those lists on the right longer, pushing more content out of immediate visibility. I'd like to have more on that page, so I am considering changing the lists to Top 5. However, your point makes sense - maybe Top 20's in the Categories and Forums, and Top 5 on the Landing Page? Just an idea.
4. Receive E-Mail notifications when points are
awarded
These are both good idea we still have in the "list" that will require some research and resources to implement. I can't offer anything more than that.
answers
I've been planning this for a long time, and it's just a matter of finding the opportunity to roll something like this out. It's a pretty big change, but one I feel is well worth doing - it lets good content pay "dividends" over time (whereas the Question/Answer model has a shorter lifecycle).
Thanks,
Erich

thanks for the update.
Having different number of Top Users on different levels sounds like a possible way to me. The main point is actually to get more of these lists, and it shouldn't really matter if some of them are shorter.
Good to hear that "the hard work is over"
