Adding one more voice... either bring back the old search.. or you can open this forum for general public viewing, in this way Google will index this forum and we will be able to use Google to search content of this forum in much better way. Like SAP's SDN does.
please hear the voice of users... please show up the search results as ordinary links..the users can decide whether they want to open as a new link or in same window
I agree with this helpful tip. But this suggestion is to suppress all the new window links just beacuse one forum don't want to change it attitude. What about those 1000s of sites I visit where there are "justifiable" links to popup webforms in new window. Should I keep my settings changing back and forth?
That's true. Once you've made these changes you are stuck with them for all sites.
I'm definitely on your side, and want EMC to make these changes...why did they think that people wanted a new window for the support forums? and maximized?
but until they make these changes, I'm just glad I use a browser that understands that control belongs to the user and not the website.
EMC, did people really tell you that they wanted a whole new browser window for the support forums? Is it time for a new poll?

User feedback demanded the window be maximized, but that's because the behavior before the change was worse.
The new window is required because though the Forums are linked to Powerlink, they are separate applications. I understand that this isn't technically required, but it is our current policy. I am working an making the policy evolve to accommodate the forum users' feedback.

I don't think that's necessary - the feelings here are very clear.
With regards to new window for Forums through Powerlink, you can use this url to bypass Powerlink homepage and go directly to Forums (this is what I have bookmarked):
"User feedback demanded the window be maximized, but that's because the behavior before the change was worse."
Wow, that isn't very encouraging!
I am new to Powerlink. I am not presently an EMC customer (other than VMWare) but am presently deciding whether to become a NAS customer (making the decision between 2 leading manufacturers...I am already a customer of the other).
I thought I owed it to myself to sign up on Powerlink and look around.
What I see isn't very happy-making. I don't have any previous experience with EMC support BBS, and I don't think I have any axe to grind, but my first reaction to the BBS (and search functions) was pretty negative -- in line with what I see in many posts above.
I am pretty much self-supporting in this kind of technology. I can't call in the consultant to fix things, so I am very dependent on this type of resource.
I would urge you not to confuse this thread with lack of community support, rather I would say it represents how strongly some of feel about this forum and its usability.
This category of the forums is used to communicate back to EMC how we use the boards, and how we envision it could be better. And in most instances, someone from EMC does respond (and quite quickly) to our concerns.
If this was the only forum you visited, you may want to check out the "main board" which is the Content Management section. There were 100+ questions posted today, ranging from core content server questions to some really arcane ones that I barely understood, yet almost all were addressed within minutes.
This is all made possible by the community that has formed around this board, both the core members who contribute all day and the casual observers who read and contribute as they can.
Spend a couple of days observing the main content management section, I think it will change your first impression. Good luck, and I hope to see you on the boards!
Sorry, my intent was to ask whether there was another community outside of this one established by EMC.
If not, then the Celerra board is in the same position as the DCTM community a few years ago where we were fragmented between dmdeveloper and a multitude of different yahoo groups.
The real value of these boards has been to centralize the knowledge/skill/talent, and the same applies to the Celerra boards which may not be heavily trafficked today, but have huge potential for growth.

From Tools > Options > Tabs select the option that "forces links" that open in new windows to open in the same tab.
Then, from Tools > Options > Content select the "Advanced" button next to Javascript and uncheck all the values that allow JS to create a new window.
