Point Obsession

Let me start of saying I think the "point" system is great. Its fun trying to get to the next level of mastery and they are helpful in indicating the level of knowledge and participation any given user has.

That aside, I have ocassionally read comments from existing users asking the poster to award points and it sometimes comes across sounding rude. I don't want to discourage the point system but I would encourage users not to be so demanding of a reward for sharing their knowledge. We don't want to scare off new forum members!

Hope this doesn't upset anyone, I'm trying to present this positivley!

But this filter does not appear in the results page
when you search for something... which IMO is the
place where it should've been originally. Points
systems seems to be designed more for taking and
giving points rather than helping users.

Not to flame this, but that is your opinion of the system. I on the other hand have no qualms about taking/giving points. When I search and find a relavent result via the search and I look at the post header and see 1 corret answer given I know i can skip instantly to the meat of the subject so to say. It would be nice to search by it, don't get me wrong on that issue, but to leave a defense to not closing a topic if sufficient information has been provided does slow things down (the point of this thread before it forked :) )
