in theory, this is possible without our forum application - it supports both NNTP and RSS. The issues is how we authenticate through SupportNet - in our quick testing, we've not been able to get this to work with any readers. This was, however, something we planned to research further after we upgraded.
Which reminds me - this may be a good opportunity for a poll...
I realize this was posted a long time ago, but I'd like to second this. I'd much rather keep up with various posts using the NNTP reader in my mail client rather than logging in through Powerlink.
it's a matter of finding the cycles, and prioritizing the pile of issues and enhancement requests we have. I know some of us would like this, but the poll we conducted in May only indicated that about half of us would use RSS, 1 in 10 would use NNTP, and 2 in 5 would use neither.
However, I'm pretty sure that if we get RSS working, we can get NNTP working too. I can't commit to that today - there are too many other variables. Still, feel free to bring it up again (and others should reply too) so we can gauge the importance of this relative to other issues.
I would definitely like to see this RSS enabled (especially now that IE7 is out and supports RSS directly). On the other hand, I know there are other things that actually need to get fixed, so I would just put this at the top of the list of enhancements, but below actual fixes.
This is just be for the Powerlink - they didn't include the forums. I'll try to nudge it up the list a bit - I too would prefer this way of keeping up with what's going on. Julie
