Hello buddy,

In generally situation, how to choose harddisk?  For example, I have three opetions: 73GB FC , 146GB FC and 300GB FC. Which one should I choose for more capacity and better performance ?

Well it all depends what are you looking for at the end and what are your priorities:

Performance with Capacity.

Just the Performance

Cost etc.

If you are looking for Performance with the greater capacity and you have to choose any one amongst the three you mentioned. I would suggest to for 300GB with 15k rpm.

Thank you. so ,we can suppose that I need more harddisks with certain capacity ,expample 100GB, if I choose the smaller size one. that is means with more harddisks ,we can get better performance.  It is easier to rebuild it with smaller capacity when error happen.  How about your think ?

No. With the more hard disk you do not get the better performance. That's Raid Group Configuration Concept.

Indeed, lower capacity drives will be rebuilt faster than higher capacity drive again, it depends what is the total capacity you require at the mo and what is the future scalability you are looking for.

In a gist:

Lower Capacity - Faster Rebuilt rate/Array will be under utilized in terms of capacity management/Low Cost

Higher Capacity - Moderate Rebuilt rate/Array will be utilized/ Might be a lil expensive than very low capacity drives.
