Top users - sort order

From time to time (but very rarely) I see that sort order of users is not sorted by points. That usually happens when you have 2 or 3 users being very close. Right now, in Top Storage Software Users list I see a guy with 120 points being in front of the second guy who has 122 points. I see that from "both top page and "EMC Support Forums » Storage Software". Standard things like refresh, restart of browser have been done so I can only assume there is a bug somewhere in how this is handled. Tested with both Firefox 2 and IE6.

Very keen eyes and very odd behavior!

I'll need to dig in a bit, but my first guess would be that although the point scores are derived in real-time, the sort order may be cached and recalculated periodically.

I'll let you know.

Hi,

I've seen this often, last time today when I had 56 points in this forum, got 6 points
from Fabian, but remained on last place. Normally, logging off from forum/PL, and
start again, resolves this, but I am not sure about this one.

Or just right now :-) This reply gave me 65 points, but I
am still behind Al-Bert with 64!

Regards

Joerg

Hi Joerg,

That's very strange as I noticed that while I was at customer site using IE6 there. Now adifferent location with FF2 I see the same. Needless to say I had to login again and I still see it. Or are you referring to your own example?

Hi Erich,

I think you're correct. I just checked this:
close forum, logoff PL, login to forum,
and now the order is correct.

My "issue" is gone too - user with 120 points now has 125 (without making a post) so it seems as sort order was correct, but points represented in table next to name were not.

Hi Hrvoje,

I am using IE6, and referred to my own example :-)

Have a nice day

Joerg,

do you mean in here? http://forums.emc.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=7

I checked and could not see anything odd. It's not that I don't believe you, though - I've already put in a request with the application developers for an explanation of how this works.

Thanks,
Erich

Hi Erich,

if you're online, you have another example right now in Development forum.

Hi Erich,

jepp, but now it is ok again for me too as I have been out and back in.
I went from ..12 to ..22, but were behind ..17. So it's most probably that order is
cached. Anyway, this isn't a big deal after all.

BTW, you have only 4 points difference between 9. and 10. place in the same forum. Easy to test this :-)

Regards

Joerg
