What do you think?

Now that we've moved over to ECN, let us know what you think, what you like and what we could do to better.

Before I figure out this place, I sent email here:

https://community.emc.com/message/431422#431422

I personally like it more even I see few things missing, but I guess after migration of this kind that's normal and all will come back to its place within few weeks of time.

FYI - I've been spinning off your issues and questions into new topics - to see these you can filter on the "forum" tag:

This is going to take some getting used to, but I don't see anything that I'd complain about. Give me some time and I'm sure I can find something specific to provide feedback on :-)

So far so good. This is definitely an upgrade, and I'm looking forward to discovering the advantages of this new platform!

exactly, i see people asking for technical support in regular developers community, unless they have PowerLink account they can't get to support forums so what do you do, help them in developers community or tell them to get PowerLink account ?

Well,

a lot of stuff has been mentioned already, so I'm not going to repeat it.

Personally, my main concern is that there are still 2 main entry points for discussions.

You can ask for and get help from Developer https://community.emc.com/community/edn/documentum?view=discussions

or you can use the Support entry https://community.emc.com/community/support/documentum?view=discussions

This doesn't make sense to me at all, IMHO, and these should definitely be merged into one!

I do also miss badly the feature of unread content which we had in the old Forums.

Last not least, I do understand the concept of the tags, but I find it quite strange that I can't store them anywhere?!

Maybe I missed something here, but my old landing page was by far easier to get me where I wanted to go.

My 0.02$

PS.: Another thing I've noticed is that I'm listed as member since Nov 5th, 2009. This is most certainly related to the fact that I

started at a new company, so I wonder what I have to do the get this correct?

Updated:

Well, it seems the unread/read thing seems to be covered by bold/unbold, but it's not easy to see the difference at first glance :-( But I definitely do like the feature that I can edit my own replies, even if they have been replied to.

Hi Jörg,

I'm glad its not just my eyesight - I can barely make out the difference between bold and not bold

dont know if its a matter of the font used or the colour, but as it is right now its difficult to see which posts are new

Rainer

P.S.: sounds like you're from Germany as well ?

Hi,

very good question indeed.

Another thing I just realised is that we indeed see a Top 10 in sub forums, but it is not showing the Top 10 users for that particular

sub forum, but the same list in all forums.

This has been discussed many, many times, and IMHO, it is more or less essential in order to get new users to get encouraged

to participate.

I also tried to search for people, and this returns some very strange results. Somebody else has tried this?

Hi Rainer,

the name is certainly german, so it's kind of hard to cover the origin due to that.

Yes, I'm originaly from Germany, but have lived in Norway for 28 years, which somehow makes me a norwegian by now, doesn't it

Regards

Jörg (the original spelling)

In general, it is a good move to consolidate forums with ECN. Although, I have tried ECN forums before, it would take time to get used to this new UI. Apart from bold vs read/unread issue, I find following somewhat annoying:

  • In powerlink, it was easier to identify answered question where big green star would appear. Small check mark in ECN is not as clear.
  • In powerlink, we used to have section for Content Management Software, which included all the posts from Documentum, Captiva, and related technologies. Lots of people used to use that area to scan through new posts, etc. I can not seem to find that.
  • May be personal, but I do miss the icons we had in powerlink ;-) . This is apart from the fact that most of us are missing thousand (or so) powerlink points.
