Worst support forum board ever!

Sorry but I have to say this is the absolute worst support forum board Ive ever had the displeasure of using. I dread having to use these boards to look up information because it takes 10 times as long to find something as it does everywhere else.

Look at the vmware boards for a fast, clean and effective way to find things. Thats just one example.. any free phpBB site is better than this

i wouldn't necessarily say it's the worst, but it is a lot more difficult to find relevant information.

i miss the old CustomerNET interface :_ (

Hi,

although I'm not in a position to agree or disagree with you (at least objectively ;) ) I am interested is hearing what you'd do to make this the Best Support Forum ever. What are other forums doing differently that you really like?

As you may have noticed, we do track enhancement requests and plan around introducing the ones we can.

You're feedback is invaluable - keep it coming!

Thanks,
Erich

I suggest to install at least Google Appliance along with your server and index the forum. At least we will be able to search past user experiences before posting our problem again.

Hi,

exactly with that in mind, we in fact do index all the forum content, and it's searchable via the Knowledgebase Search tool in Powerlink (there's a link at the top right of this page).

We've had some issues with the Search (performance and relevancy, to name the biggest pain points) but we are already past some of the initial issues we had, and have some more improvements coming through soon.

Thanks,
Erich

Here I suggested Google Appliance not just to perform indexing, but to perform quality indexing which give absolute relevant results and thats to fast with no frills on user interface.

Hi,

I appreciate the frustration with the indexing - we are constantly working at improving that, and there are some tricks to making it work better (like using the Boolean operators and quotes).

As for a simpler interface, you do have some options:
1) on the Powerlink Landing page, you have the Quick Knowledgebase Search portlet - one text field, one search button - can't get much simpler ;)
2) on the Support Landing Page (click Support in the navigation bar) there's a trimmed down version of the Search All page

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Erich
