Hello Sébastien,

a EQL PS is always Active/Standby which means the Standby controller offer the the following

- CPU

- Cache

but no network as long as the Active CM (Controller Module) is up and running. With rescent models there is "vertical portfailover" which means also the network of a standby CM become online but thats only when there i a problem with network/switch of the active CM. And this feature doesnt help you with your question.

A PS with 2 CMs is always a little bit faster as a one with only a single CM.

Storages like HP MSA 2040, Dell Powervault MD and so on are Active/Active on paper but a LUN is always bind to a single Controller.

Install EQL SANHQ to monitor the bandwith and most likely you will see that in a typical production environment youre unable to fill the 2Gbit. This may change during Backup or other sequential workloads with larger IO sizes.

Regards,

Joerg
