equallogic ps4100 network interfaces down
Hello
We have an PS4100 and after a power outage we lost network connectivity. We can only connect by serial.
By serial we got:
1558:5:netmgtd:24-May-2019 21:41:48.700006:rcc_util.c:1029:INFO::25.2.9:
It appears that the storage array has not been configured.
would you like to configure the array now ? (y/n) [n]y
Group Manager Setup Utility
*** RAID is not functioning properly: RAID in trouble..
Also on boot:
SP:1558749110.88:wip.c:493:ERROR:14.4.13:0:Cached memory log for RAID LUN 0 is either invalid or unavailable. The on-disk label indicates that the cache was dirty and RAID writes were in progress. The RAID LUN is not recoverable.
SP:1558749110.90:emm.c:2095:ERROR:28.4.47:Critical health conditions exist.
Correct immediately before they affect array operation.
Unable to recover battery-backed cache. Array will not initialize without intervention.
There are 1 outstanding health conditions. Correct these conditions before they affect array operation.
SP:1558749110.91:recovery.c:564:ERROR:14.4.9:0:RAID LUN 0 write cache was not recovered.
SP:1558749110.92:events.c:755:ERROR:14.4.10:0:(Dirty) RAID LUN 0 cannot be recovered due to a catastrophic data loss.
Please, could you help me to understand what happened and if there's a solution for this issue.
All our company data is storage on that equipment. Its a critical situacion for us. Thanks for you help!

Hello,
As we discussed in forum mail. If you can open a one time support case. Given the old firmware, some things can be attempted that might recover the missing cache and bet the array to boot. Otherwise that missing cache may need to be cleared which is not without risks.

Thanks for the answer. We solved it.
Now we need to change the second controller, actually the storage is running with only one.
Please, could you help me to know how to change it.
It could be done with the storage online? Should the storage recognize it automatically? Should take the SD card from the old controller and put it into the new one?
Thanks for you help!

Hello,
Yes, the passive controller can be changed out live without any interruption.
Re: SD. Yes! That is very important. This insures the new controller is at the identical firmware version as the active controller. Once you move the SD card you can install it in the array and the firmware will recognize it and sync the cache.
