Error upgrading firmware on Equalogic PS6100X - Unknown error 13 returned by the server
I am attempting to upgrade from firmware version 7.1.14 to 8.1.15 on a Dell Equalogic PS6100X. I am using the 64bit firmware file. I am getting "Unknown error 13 returned by server". I can't figure out why this is happening. I have also tried version 8.0.5 and get same error.

Hi @dwinterhalter7272,
Are you updating the storage using Dell Storage Update Manager or the storage GUI?
Could you ensure that no collection replication occurs during the update?
Have you tried from another client?

I have tried storage GUI and CLI and both get this unknown error 13. Is Dell Storage Update Manager working? I am struggling with getting DSUM working because of Java. Have tried link and standalone and running into issues

Hello,
Has that array been up and running for a long time? If so, I would suggest restarting both CMs then try the upgrade again. If you have a serial connection available, restart the passive CM first. After that comes back online, restart the primary CM. When the CM comes back online as the secondary try the firmware upgrade again.
If you don't have a serial connection, you can use restart in the GUI or CLI. But you must do it two times to make sure both CMs get restarted.
If the array is not in use, you can also do a shutdown. Wait 2 mins, then power back up.
Regards,
Don
